First seminar assignment is a custom painted vinyl toy. I had grabbed the Foomi munny toy, which has spiky-esk hair in the back. I would have preferred an original Munny but they had already been snatched up. I'm currently in the stages of figuring out what pop culture figure I want to do. I've narrowed my choices to Sonic the Hedgehog, Tai from Digimon or the Flaming C from Team Coco

So, I know the people who commissioned me for the invites I posted a little while back (she's actually my high school german teacher :) ), and when I went over to her house to get my commission, she invited me/gave me an invite to the party! I thought it was really cool how she made the invites, so I thought I'd show you guys.

She printed them on transfer sheets and cut out a square of old scrapbooking paper for the back (so there's a variety of different patterns for different invites). She made them really nice so her relatives wouldn't throw them away (which I'm thankful for :3 )

This weekend in San Diego, Team Coco and TBS will fill an art gallery in the historic Gaslamp quarter with your incredible pieces of Flaming C fan art. The four day exhibit is called “COCO MoCA presents: the Fine Art of The Flaming C.”

The fan art gallery is free and will be open to the public for viewing Thurs, 7/21 – Sat, 7/23 9am – 9pm and Sunday, 7/24 9am – 5pm. The gallery is located at 363 Fifth Ave., Suite 102, in San Diego, down the street from the convention center where Comic-Con is held (it isn’t affiliated with Comic-Con, so you don’t need be attending Comic-Con or have a Comic-Con badge to visit the gallery).

This summer was suppose to be dedicated to working on my ideas for Thesis (namely Paper Girl), but the first half seems to be all about drawing fan art, staying up late, and waking up a noon. I'm attempting to steer my focus back on PG but it's hard. These are just some recent sketches I drew. Top one is just a simple picture of Ellie and the bottom is what I like to call "Nega-Ellie". She's not really a big part of the story, more like a small opposite-verse of the actually story. She may never make it into the legit story, but it would be fun to draw up a quick side story with her. I like her a lot 'cause she's fucking crazy.

2.) I'm visiting family for Easter Sunday tomorrow and they said to bring beer which we're supply! Not my fault! Not drinking by myself! Don't judge me!
3.) Finally got to see The Kings Speech and Tron Legacy today. Both spectacular movies! Punkin and I watched Tron, then rolled around the house pretending we were on the grid while we listened to Daft Punk. That's right. We cool like that.

Kingdom Hearts

Hey all! I felt bad for not updating in a while so I thought I'd scan some fanart. During winter break, I was going through my old manga to figure out what I wanted to keep and what I plan on selling in the summer. I came across my old Kingdom Hearts comics and I ended up rereading them. Then, since January, characters from the video game have been popping up in the corners of my notebooks and sketchbook. It's been such a long time since I've been "into" the series; the last time I drew Kingdom Hearts was way back in 2006 (I was a sophomore in high school!) And when I went to Anime Milwaukee and kept running into it (I even bought 2 KH cell phone charms).

Roxas and Namine are my two all time favorite characters from the Kingdom Hearts franchise; even after 6 years.

I'm pretty proud of this last one; Today I was thinking about how I hope Roxas and Namine show up in future Kingdom Hearts games; then I thought how cool it would be if it was just them; then I designed Namine a "fighting" outfit, equipped with weapons, haha. If I had my way, she'd have key daggers that are connected by a chain (since she can reconnection chains of memories) that she can use as a whip. I'll probably draw her in that outfit a few more times because I like it so much.

Paper Girl journal doodles

Meh, random sketch of PG being bamf i guess

This is the first I've posted of this character and I was debating if I should post this or not because she's so far in the story that I didn't think I should spoil her yet but I thought what the hell. She's hard to explain without giving too much away but she's basically a Native American goddess (of earth) she's currently nameless because I'm not too far into the research. Basically, farther into the story line, Mahoney's abilities have strengthened so much that she gradually has the ability to move trees (and it'll show slowly in the story because she can mostly only use it as a last resort when it's just a body reaction to prevent her from dying) but because she can sometimes do that she's vulnerable to be possessed by this goddess/spirit who possess her body to move trees around and stuff. She's not really evil (more like selfish) but Mahoney has to train to prevent her from taking over when she's at her weakest. The Goddess was inspired from the lyrics of The Queen's Rebuke by the Decemberists.

Random sketch of PG and Riley, she's referring to Spider-Man btw, lol but she can't right out say it or quote it perfectly because I'm scared i'll get sued.

I've been listening to Christmas music none stop and I've actually find it easier for me to do homework with it on. I was up REALLY late last night doodling this so they're totally absurd and crazy. I would never wear those outfits i drew myself in expect for the outfits when i was 4 which I actually DID wear on christmas. Also I miss my dog and I can't draw dogs for my life, so please excuse how stupid Punkin looks.

I had a huge inspiration to draw Paper Girl over Fall Break and I just went pose crazy. I also reread some of my DC comics so Batman and the Flash made an appearance in my sketches :) My friend Elizabeth is getting married in April so I went through some wedding magazines this weekend and was inspired to draw girly girls. Connie found a site called Cube Craft, where they have a bunch of paper dolls you can print and fold up into people and stuff. It's pretty cool and I printed a Conando doll out. He's chilling with me in my studio. I blame Erin for starting this cube doll craze in our studio!

Color Study: Calipso

I was just goofing around today and I doodled this while listening to The Decemberists "The Mariner's Revenge Song" (provided below). I had to download some brushes for my new Illustration project and decided to use my doodle as both a color study and an excuse to try out my new brushes. I actually had a lot of fun considering I haven't colored anything in a long time that wasn't mandatory for class. :)
